Anne Tilby

Anne Tilby is a photographer and mixed media artist whose Tortured Soles Collection interrogates the Western obsession with footwear as a form of bodily control — what she describes as a form of Western foot-binding. Working with found shoes, nails, fur and photographic print, Tilby transforms objects of everyday femininity into unsettling and darkly humorous portraits of endurance.
